Bhitraband public library of Kurigram is spreading the light of knowledge.

Bhitraband Public Library of Nageshwari Upazila of Kurigram District is spreading the light of knowledge among all the people including students.  Libraries are playing an important role in creating interest for reading books among people at the grass root level.
The two storied library is located adjacent to Bhitraband Union Parishad and Shishu Park.  In 2014, it was started and built on a three-decimal plot of land by Alhaj Aminul Haque Khandkar Bachchu, former Chairman of Bhitarband Union Parishad, from his own funds.
There are more than three thousand different books.  Students of various schools and colleges come to read books in both male and female libraries.  Some take their favorite books home to read.
According to sources, poetry recitation and quiz competitions are held in the first floor hall of the library on the last Friday of every month.  Attractive prizes are awarded among the winners to generate interest among the students.  Library students as well as readers participate in book readings, poetry recitations, quizzes, debates and cultural competitions on various marked days.  District administrative officers, political, social, cultural personalities and journalists are participating to generate interest among students.  Apart from this, poetry recitation practice classes are held regularly in the library hall.
The founder of the library regularly donates school books and educational materials to poor students of local educational institutions.
Poetry recitation, online quiz competition and offline quiz competition were held here recently where Kurigram Local Government Deputy Director (DDLG) Minhajul Islam, Nageshwari UNO Farzana Jahan, Nageshwari Upazila Chairman Mustafa Zaman, Bhitarband UP Chairman Shafiul Alam Shafi, Zilla Parishad Member Md.  Local dignitaries including Masuda Daisy,  Ekramul Haque Bulbul were present.
At the end of the competition three bicycles were given away as prizes among the winners.  Mayan Uddin of class V of Light House International School, Bhitraband won the poetry recitation, Aparna Sarkar of Rajarhat won the online quiz competition and Meghla Akhter of the sixth class of Bhitarband Girls High School won the offline quiz competition.
Going to the library, it can be seen that the environment of the library is colorful.  Everything is beautifully arranged.  Two workers who serve everything for the readers.  Being located in a remote rural area, colorful banners, photo scenes, signboards, cup prizes for entertainment and commode system toilets attract everyone.
Talked to Aruna Sarkar, Master’s student of Political Science Department of Kurigram Government.  Sarnolta, an intermediate 2nd year student of Bhitarband Women’s College and Kumari Bithi, a 10th class student of Humanities Group of Bhitarband Girls High School, told the whole of Bhavanipur, Majhipara village of Bhitarband union of Bhitarband union in Nageshwari Upazila, we used to come together.  Acquiring the knowledge of reading books regularly in the library.  We read various books including biographies of great men, travel, story books, novels, cookery, economics, agriculture.
Alhaj Aminul Islam Bachchu, entrepreneur and library director and former chairman of Bhitarband Union Parishad, who was elected the best UP chairman of the district twice and traveled to the Philippines and Malaysia for ten days at government expense, said, “I have taken the initiative to set up a library.”  From my grandfather Kobad Ali Khandkar as he used to read all kinds of books as a hobby.  Because the library is called the house of knowledge.
Aminul Islam Bachchu, who served in Saudi Arabia for 22 years, said that he is trying to make the youth free from drugs and focus on acquiring knowledge by reading books.  The members of the library are active in building a beautiful society and have established the library by participating in various social development activities.
Women’s Day is celebrated in Kurigram organized by Good Neighbors Bangladesh.

On the second day of International Women’s Day, the theme was “Digital Technology and Innovation, Ending Gender Discrimination”.
A discussion meeting and cultural program was organized by Good Neighbors Bangladesh CDB Kurigram.  On Thursday (March 9) at 10 a.m. in the Jatrapur College premises of Kurigram Sadar, Good Neighbors Bangladesh CDP Kurigram manager Joshek Tutul Biswas spoke as the chief guest, Deputy Director of Women’s Affairs Department Jebunnecha.  Jatrapur College Principal Md. Ershadul Haque Khan, Good Neighbors Health Officer Monira Akhtar, Good Neighbors Cooperative President Nishita Akhter Najma, CDP President Shri Nitai Chandra Roy, Eminent Journalist Saifur Rahman Shamim, District Journalist Union Vice President spoke among others.  Md. Aminul Islam, prominent journalist Md. Mizanur Rahman, journalist AR Rakibul Hasan and local dignitaries.  The speakers discussed the significance of Women’s Day and the activities of Good Neighbors Bangladesh.
More than three hundred women participated in the event.  A wonderful cultural program was held after the discussion meeting.
Three people, including an online gambling software developer, were arrested in Kurigram.

Police have arrested three people including illegal online gambling software developers in Kurigram.  They were arrested from Bhurungamari, Rangpur and Dinajpur in the district on Wednesday night.
Superintendent of Police Al Asad Md. Mahfuzul Islam said in a press conference at Kurigram Police Lines hall on Thursday afternoon that North Bengal’s online gambling software developer Sujan Mia along with online gambling masterminds Abul Kalam and Bhabani Roy were arrested.  Cash, laptop, SIM card and mobile phone of various companies were recovered from them.
The Superintendent of Police said that the gang was carrying out its activities through selling online gambling software and mobile banking in various parts of the country including North Bengal.  He said that their activities were identified and arrested through the Cyber ​​Wing of the Anti-Terrorism Unit.
The Superintendent of Police also said that the gang used Max Player, Sports Zone software to induce people to gamble online by showing different types of temptations, and through mobile banking, they used to steal lakhs of rupees from young people of rising age.
In a press conference, the Superintendent of Police said that online gambling agent Abul Kalam (22) was arrested from the Ayan hostel adjacent to Mulattal Primary School in Rangpur city.  Some SIM cards and cash were found from him.  According to his information, online gambling software developer Sujan Mia (24) was arrested from Bhana area of ​​Bhurungamari upazila of the district.  Laptop mobile and cash were recovered from him.  Later, based on the information of the arrested, another online gambling agent, Bhabani Roy, was arrested from Dinajpur’s Khansama area.
